TAQA Distribution Highlights Emirati Talent Development At World Utilities Congress 2025

TAQA Distribution has reiterated its dedication to nurturing Emirati talent at the World Utilities Congress 2025. The company spotlighted its prominent initiative, "ETLAQ," which aims to prepare Emirati graduates, technicians, and students for leadership roles in the energy and utilities sector. This programme is a key part of TAQA's strategy to develop young national talent through comprehensive professional and leadership training.

Haitham Al Subaihi, Executive Vice President of People and Culture at TAQA Distribution, emphasised that "ETLAQ" is crucial for empowering young nationals. The programme offers professional and leadership development tailored to meet the sector's evolving needs. Since its inception in 2020 as the "ETLAQ Graduate Programme," it has trained over 250 graduates in four cohorts, focusing on personal growth and leadership alongside technical skills.

This year, TAQA Distribution expanded the initiative by introducing a specialised track for technicians. This track provides intensive, hands-on training specifically designed for fieldwork in energy transmission and distribution sectors. This expansion aligns with TAQA's focus on matching workforce development with real-world operational requirements.

The programme benefits from strategic partnerships with top academic and vocational institutions like the Higher Colleges of Technology and the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute. These collaborations help prepare technical graduates for successful careers in the workforce by providing them with essential skills and knowledge.

In addition to these efforts, TAQA Distribution launched two new tracks this year: a summer internship for university students and an alternative national service programme. Both initiatives are designed to give early exposure to the energy industry, enhancing long-term employability for participants.

Future Expansion Plans

Looking forward, TAQA Distribution is finalising plans to extend "ETLAQ" into the Al Dhafra region. This expansion supports the company's broader strategy of promoting balanced development across the Emirate. By doing so, TAQA aims to ensure that all regions benefit from its workforce development initiatives.

The commitment shown by TAQA Distribution through "ETLAQ" highlights its role in shaping future leaders within the energy sector. By equipping young Emiratis with necessary skills, TAQA contributes significantly to sustainable development goals while fostering local talent.
