Sultan Bin Ahmed Observes Signing Of Cooperation Agreement To Enhance Media Leadership Programme At University Of Sharjah
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), attended a significant event on Wednesday. A cooperation agreement was signed between UoS and Sharjah Media City (Shams) to enhance the "Master of Science in Media Leadership and Digital Innovation" programme. This initiative involves collaboration with the University of Barcelona.
The agreement was formalised at the office of the UoS President by Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor of UoS, and Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director of Shams. This partnership underscores UoS's dedication to delivering top-tier education through alliances with prestigious institutions. It also highlights Shams' commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for media professionals and entrepreneurs in the region.
The Master's programme is designed to equip students with skills in new media fields through both theoretical and practical learning. It aims to cultivate a modern understanding of digital media within a diverse global context. The curriculum covers essential media functions like content production, management, technical structures, management dynamics, and economic feasibility.
Advanced practical training is a key component, encouraging entrepreneurship among students. They are empowered to develop their emerging professional and business projects. The College of Communication at Sharjah University will oversee academic aspects, while Shams will support administrative needs financially.
Shams will contribute significantly by enriching the curriculum with industry-relevant case studies and organising lectures from experts. A mentoring programme will be launched to guide students under professional leaders' supervision in the media sector. Additionally, students can participate in workshops and use Shams' facilities for research and skill development.
Moreover, Shams offers a two-year free licence for students enrolled in the programme to develop their projects within the city. This licence is extendable for an additional year, providing ample opportunity for practical application of their learning.
This agreement reflects a shared vision between UoS and Shams to provide an exceptional educational experience while supporting future leaders in media innovation. By combining academic excellence with real-world applications, this collaboration aims to prepare students for successful careers in the evolving media landscape.
