Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Crowns Champions At Sharjah Ramadan Sports Tournament

The Sharjah Ramadan Sports Tournament concluded with H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, crowning the Iran national team as champions in the six-a-side football tournament. The event took place at Al Heera Beach, where the Iranian team triumphed over Indonesia with a narrow 3-2 victory. The match drew a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters from both sides.

In addition to football, the beach volleyball competition saw Suhaila Suburb Council claim victory against Muwailih Suburb Council in straight sets. This tournament featured participation from six councils across Sharjah: Al Raqa, Wasit, Muwailih, Suhaila, Al Rahmaniyah, and Mughaidir. The event was part of a broader effort to engage communities through sports.

H.H. Sheikh Sultan also witnessed various fan engagement activities that were held alongside the tournament. These included tug-of-war and sack racing events that welcomed participation from both adults and children. Such activities contributed to a festive atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.

The UAE national team secured third place in the football tournament after defeating Oman 4-1 in a penalty shootout during the third-place playoff. The first edition of this six-a-side football tournament ran from 4th to 9th March and featured eight Asian national teams: UAE, Iraq, Oman, India, Japan, Iran, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

The teams were divided into two groups of four for the tournament. The top two teams from each group advanced to the semi-finals and final rounds. In total, 20 matches were played with each game consisting of two halves lasting 25 minutes each.

An entertainment village was set up to accommodate up to 1,700 spectators with dedicated seating areas. This village offered various activities and games along with sports facilities and food trucks. Designated spaces for sponsors were also provided to enhance the overall fan experience.
