Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Recognises Winners Of The 12th Sharjah Government Communication Award At Ceremony
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, honoured winners at the 12th Sharjah Government Communication Award ceremony. The event took place at the Sharjah Expo Centre, concluding the 14th International Government Communication Forum. H.H. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi was recognised as "Distinguished Personality in Government and Strategic Communication" for her impactful role in communication.
The award ceremony celebrated achievements across various categories. Dubai’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship & Port Security won Best Integrated Communication System. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Media received the Best Innovation in Government Communication award. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia was honoured for campaigns positively impacting youth awareness.
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) from Nigeria won Best Communication Programme Supporting Emerging Projects and Youth. The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in Saudi Arabia received the Best Crisis Communication Strategy award. Sharjah’s Agriculture and Livestock Department was recognised with the Distinguished Communication Impact Award for enhancing quality of life.
In media content, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Media won in the public sector, while Atnafas Creative Productions from Bahrain excelled in the private sector. Dubai Police was acknowledged for supporting social responsibility through communication practices, with Touch from Saudi Arabia winning in the private sector.
The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development was awarded for investing in soft power to support communication programmes. Trends Research & Advisory earned recognition in the private sector. The Heritage Commission of Saudi Arabia was honoured for innovative projects targeting children and adolescents, while New Media Academy in UAE excelled privately.
The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language was celebrated for promoting cultural identity and Arabic language campaigns. The Mulhemoon Association from Bahrain received the Best Youth Initiative award in government communication.
Honouring Individual Achievements
Omar Al-Qahtani from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Media was named Best Official Spokesperson. Hamdan and Sultan Al Shehhi from UAE were recognised as Best Changemakers under-18, while Mohannad Diab from Egypt won over-18 category. Mohammed Al-Shaaban from Bahrain received an award for research in communication sciences.
The University Challenge saw Khorfakkan University triumphing alongside UAE University partners. Gheras Project won at the Artificial Intelligence Skills Camp with Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, while One City, Different Voices campaign topped the Global Public Relations Challenge with ICCO.
Special Partnered Awards
Emirates Foundation received recognition for innovative communication empowering society. Zindi Platform earned an award for AI technology communication benefiting communities, partnered with MIT Kuo Sharper Centre. UAE National Committee on Sustainable Development Goals excelled in development advances communication with CSO Network partnership.
Asia House partnered to honour Thailand’s Bangchak for sustainable development communication excellence through its ‘Fry to Fly’ campaigns. CoELIB at Egerton University in Kenya won an award for food security initiatives partnered with Alliance for African Partnership.
Sami Al Reyami highlighted that since its inception, the award has been a pillar of development and trust between institutions and people. He noted over 2,600 submissions this year, with 600 qualifying entries evaluated by judges who faced challenges due to high excellence levels among participants.
The UNHCR received recognition for innovative communication initiatives partnered with UNITAR. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi also honoured jury members for their contributions to evaluating diverse nominees effectively.
Alia Al Suwaidi emphasised that Sharjah values culture as a lifestyle and community work as a development bridge during her speech at the ceremony's opening. She stated that truthful words can shift societal awareness and rebuild trust through constructive dialogue.
The event saw attendance from Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah’s Department of Government Relations; Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi; Director General of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation; along with senior officials and representatives participating entities.
