Stern School Of Business At NYU Abu Dhabi Officially Launches Its Inaugural MBA Class

The Stern School of Business at New York University Abu Dhabi (Stern at NYUAD) has officially opened. This initiative is a collaboration between NYU Stern School of Business and NYU Abu Dhabi. The inauguration was attended by notable figures such as Shamma bint Sohail Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Empowerment, and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, NYU Trustee and CEO of Mubadala Investment Company.

Other attendees included Rima Al Mokarrab, Chair of Tamkeen; Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US; Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement; Martina Strong, US Ambassador to the UAE; Linda G. Mills, President of NYU; and John Tate, CEO of Tamkeen. The event also saw participation from Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, and Ala'a Eraiqat, CEO of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

NYU Abu Dhabi Launches First MBA Class

Linda G. Mills highlighted that the programme embodies NYU's dedication to providing transformative global education. It aims to equip outstanding students with essential skills and networks for success in a rapidly changing market. This commitment is reflected in the diverse cohort and international exposure offered through modules in Abu Dhabi and New York City.

The inaugural MBA programme at Stern at NYUAD offers a one-year full-time course for early-career professionals. It includes 54 credits, matching the intensity of traditional two-year MBA programmes but completed in just one year. This structure responds to both student needs and market demands for quicker yet comprehensive education.

The first cohort comprises 54 accomplished candidates with an average GPA of 3.6. These students hail from 25 countries, predominantly from the UAE and the United States, with significant representation from India, China, and Pakistan. This diversity brings a broad global perspective to the classroom environment.

Rima Al Mokarrab stated that launching Stern at NYUAD highlights the strong partnership between NYU and Abu Dhabi. It reflects their shared goal to nurture future innovators and leaders. This collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to advancing education and leadership development in the region.

Strategic Educational Milestone

Professor Fabio Piano described the opening as a crucial step in NYU Abu Dhabi's mission as a leader in global higher education. He noted its contribution to the UAE's growth by preparing graduates for opportunities across private and public sectors. The programme draws on expertise from leading business figures worldwide.

Stern at NYUAD graduates will receive an accredited MBA degree jointly awarded by NYU Stern and NYU Abu Dhabi. This degree connects them to an extensive alumni network spanning over 130 countries, enhancing their professional prospects globally.

The programme is designed to prepare graduates for dynamic growth opportunities within both regional private and public sectors. By offering modules in both Abu Dhabi and New York City, students gain valuable international exposure alongside industry insights from prominent business leaders.
