SEDD Hosts Panel Discussion On The Future Of Statistics In The AI Era
The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) recently held a panel discussion titled "Statistics Future in AI Era." This event was organised in collaboration with the Sharjah Digital Department and the Department of Statistics and Community Development. The session aligns with SEDD's strategy to advance economic sectors through cutting-edge technologies and artificial intelligence, supporting Sharjah's vision for innovation and sustainable development.
Experts at the session explored how artificial intelligence can enhance statistical data usage. They emphasised the importance of leveraging technological innovations for more accurate data analysis. Discussions centred on using diverse data to support decision-making and achieve sustainable development goals.

The session underscored AI's role in transforming traditional statistical tools into advanced systems capable of handling vast, complex datasets. It also addressed challenges in integrating these technologies within the statistical domain. Participants discussed collaboration between academic, governmental, and private sectors to develop innovative strategies.
Noura Yousif bin Sandal, Deputy Director of Economic Planning and Studies at SEDD, highlighted the significance of statistics in future planning and achieving sustainable development goals. She noted that effective statistical systems must be adaptable, capable of growth, and support training and research methodologies.
Bin Sandal further stated that SEDD aims to strengthen partnerships across various fields to improve data issuance processes. This includes unifying concepts, supporting transparency principles, and promoting awareness of statistical methodologies aligned with international standards.
The session also focused on enhancing cooperation among local entities to utilise AI capabilities in statistics. This collaboration is crucial for realising Sharjah’s developmental visions and addressing society's evolving needs.
Participants concluded by emphasising the necessity of fostering partnerships between local organisations to harness AI in statistics. Such efforts contribute significantly to Sharjah’s development objectives while adapting to societal changes.
