SRTA Launches Comprehensive Transportation Plan For 5600 Trips During Eid Al Adha Holiday

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has crafted a detailed plan for the Eid Al Adha holiday. This initiative is designed to ensure that travellers experience safe and comfortable transportation during the celebrations. With more people expected to travel during this festive period, SRTA is enhancing its services to facilitate smooth movement within Sharjah and beyond.

Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, who leads the SRTA, emphasised the necessity of being well-prepared for holidays. He mentioned that during the Eid holiday in 2025, from June 5 to 8, there will be an increase in public transport users. To manage this, SRTA plans to deploy 180 buses on various routes, aiming for about 5,600 trips over four days. Buses will run every 5 minutes during peak times instead of the usual 45-minute intervals, reducing waiting times significantly.

SRTA's Eid Al Adha Transport Plan: 5600 Trips

The authority is focused on facilitating easy travel for those visiting family or exploring popular spots within and outside the emirate. They are boosting staff numbers at busy bus stations like Jubail Bus Station, which will operate from early morning until late at night to handle the expected surge in passengers during this busy holiday.

SRTA has improved bus services in Sharjah City specifically for the Eid holiday, making travel more convenient for everyone. They are operating a total of 1,144 bus trips daily across 12 different routes using 104 buses that connect to 543 stops around the city.

During Eid Al Adha, a special boat service will run between Sharjah and Dubai. Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan, responsible for transport at SRTA, announced four daily trips. These boats will depart from Aquarium Station in Sharjah and arrive at Al Ghubaiba Station in Dubai, in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.

Al Jarwan also revealed that SRTA is collaborating with Omani transport company Mwasalat to operate international route 203. This route links Sharjah with Muscat, Oman’s capital, offering two daily flights. The service aims to boost tourism between the two countries during Eid holidays. Passengers can board at Jubail station and travel to Al Athaiba station with stops along the way. Tickets are available online through Mwasalat Oman's website or at their service points.

The comprehensive plan by SRTA ensures efficient transportation options during Eid Al Adha. By increasing bus frequency and introducing special services like boat trips between Sharjah and Dubai, they aim to provide seamless travel experiences for all passengers celebrating this festive occasion.
