Sharjah RTA To Operate Over 6,000 Intercity Trips During Eid Al Fitr

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has unveiled a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing passenger transportation services during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, spanning from 9th to 12th April. This initiative is set to significantly increase the frequency of daily passenger trips across various cities, with an anticipated total of 6,330 trips scheduled to meet the surge in demand.

Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Sharjah RTA, highlighted the emirate's strategic position as a convergence point for diverse Arab and international communities. In response to the growing demand for bus transportation services, the Authority is implementing strategies designed to elevate the quality and efficiency of these services. A key focus is on ensuring seamless and comfortable travel experiences through safer transportation means.

To cater to the influx of Eid Al-Fitr well-wishers, the SRTA has prepared by deploying an ample fleet of 789 buses. These buses are designated to operate across intercity lines during the holiday period, reflecting the Authority's commitment to providing continuous comfort for its users.

In an effort to streamline transportation and minimize passenger wait times at stations, the SRTA has adopted a strategy to reduce the interval between bus departures. During peak times over the Eid holiday, buses on 15 main lines will run every five minutes, a significant improvement from the usual 45-minute intervals on regular days. This adjustment is part of a broader objective to enhance trip capacity and service quality for the public.

Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, Director of Transportation Affairs at the Authority, shared insights into additional preparations for maritime transport during Eid Al Fitr. The Maritime Transport Department has finalized arrangements for sea trips between Sharjah and Dubai, offering four daily voyages from Aquarium Marine Transport Station in Sharjah to Al Ghubaiba station in Dubai. This initiative is conducted in close collaboration with Dubai's RTA, underscoring a unified approach to facilitating holiday travel.

The SRTA's proactive measures also include scaling up its workforce and operational crew during the Eid period. This strategy aims to efficiently manage passenger flow within Jubail Station and other key locations, ensuring a smooth and convenient travel experience for all.

Through these comprehensive plans and strategic implementations, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority is set to accommodate the expected rise in passenger numbers during Eid Al Fitr. By enhancing bus and maritime transport services, the Authority is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of its users while promoting safe and efficient travel across the emirate.
