Sports Industry Forum Highlights AI Applications And Future Trends In Sports Development
The ninth Sports Industry Forum began at Yas Convention Center, Yas Marina Circuit. This two-day event gathers sports professionals and experts globally, alongside leaders from government, sports, and business sectors. The 2025 Forum is backed by the Department of Community Development, the Department of Culture & Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with partners Ethara, Wasserman Live, and Nielsen Sports.
During the forum's first day, discussions focused on future trends in sports and how technology and global partnerships can boost the region's status as a top destination for international sporting events. The opening session highlighted Abu Dhabi's plans to enhance its global sporting presence amid numerous upcoming events.

Ghanim Al Hajeri, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Sports, reviewed the national sports system's development and progress in the national strategy for sports development. He shared with Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the Ministry is eager to participate in such conferences to showcase its projects and inform partners about efforts to make sports a lifestyle through community involvement, school sports, talent discovery, and digital transformation.
Former Liverpool F.C. player Ian Rush and ex-professional footballer Robbie Fowler discussed leadership and sports legacy in a special session. Andrew Thompson from SailGP emphasized rewriting global sport rules. A panel featuring Fred Baker from IBM and Alex Brunori from G42 explored AI applications in sports.
Robbie Fowler expressed pride in attending this significant event in Abu Dhabi. He noted it as a positive chance to spotlight this rapidly evolving industry. "I have participated in the forum over the past years," he said. "I can see the great passion not just for one sport but for many sports." This reflects Abu Dhabi government's efforts to draw attention to this city.
Fowler stressed that Abu Dhabi's government can successfully implement its plans due to its vision. This makes Abu Dhabi an ideal destination for developing sports both regionally and globally. The forum continues to be a platform where industry leaders share insights on advancing the sports sector.
