During the summit’s opening day, H.H. Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa took part in a keynote session titled ‘Leading from the Front Lines’. The session was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and brought together senior figures focused on leadership in sport and athlete development.

The World Sports Summit attracted more than 1,500 leaders, elite athletes and policy makers from across global sport. Discussions focused on governance, performance and community impact. The summit provided a platform for exchanging expertise, aligning strategies and highlighting how sport can support broader economic and social objectives in the region and beyond.

H.H. Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that leadership in sport requires continuous learning and practical experience, supported by determination and perseverance. Total commitment to a chosen field, according to Sheikh Nasser, forms the base for any athlete aiming for success and higher levels of performance, as well as sustained excellence across competitive careers.

Sheikh Nasser noted that building a winning mindset demands effort, discipline and confidence in personal potential. Psychological preparation and structured training were highlighted as vital, helping athletes turn obstacles into later achievements. Sheikh Nasser also underlined Bahrain’s comprehensive vision for sport, and said administrators should guide, mentor and plan beyond formal roles, remaining close to athletes in competition to act as role models.
