Space42 And Nybl Introduce Innovative AI Solution To Enhance Efficiency In Oil And Gas Sector

Space42, the UAE's pioneering AI-driven SpaceTech firm with a global presence, has teamed up with nybl, a leader in science-based artificial intelligence. Together, they have introduced an innovative satellite-enabled AI solution aimed at enhancing the efficiency and productivity of oil wells for oil and gas companies.

This new solution is the initial result of the collaboration between nybl and Space42's satellite mobility division, Thuraya, under Yahsat Space Services. The focus is on creating AI-powered Satellite Communications (SatComs) solutions. Through this partnership, Thuraya can offer these capabilities to its clients via the nybl AI platform, n.lift.

The agreement aligns with nybl's strategic growth objectives while supporting Space42's vision of using SpaceTech to empower industries. By leveraging advanced geospatial and satellite technologies alongside AI, they aim to drive innovation and efficiency across various sectors.

A certification process was conducted over six months on 27 oil wells using Thuraya's satellite network. This involved implementing a specialised AI module tailored for the oil and gas industry. The Thuraya AI-powered solution can accurately foresee potential failures in Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP), enabling companies to preemptively address issues and minimise production downtime.

The Proof of Concept (POC) demonstrated that the solution offers real-time insights that can reduce operational costs. It extends pump lifespans by 20-30%, boosts oil well production by 5%, and enhances reservoir, energy, and production management efficiency by predicting imminent non-trending failures.

Sulaiman Al Ali, CEO of Thuraya, expressed pride in leading the development of AI-powered SatCom solutions that aid oil and gas companies in making informed decisions to improve operational efficiencies.
