Space42 And Cobham Satcom Introduce New Thuraya-4 Terminals For Enhanced L-band Connectivity

Space42, a UAE-based company specialising in AI-driven SpaceTech, and Cobham Satcom, a leader in satellite communications, have announced the completion of advanced terminals for the Thuraya-4 Next Generation Satellite (T4-NGS). This development offers broadband-grade L-band service to various sectors including government, maritime, and commercial industries.

The Thuraya-4 network introduces a new standard in L-band communications. It features advanced beam management and enhanced resilience under harsh conditions, built on 3GPP LTE standards. Users can rely on consistent service even during interference or infrastructure failures. The network supports video, real-time data, and IoT applications, enhancing field capabilities.

Cobham Satcom's terminal portfolio ensures users have access to broadband-grade L-band connectivity exceeding 1 Mbps. This is crucial for operations in contested or remote environments. The comprehensive range includes both Comms-on-the-Pause and Comms-on-the-Move systems, available in military and commercial configurations.

The IP NEO terminals are designed as Comms-on-the-Pause solutions that fit into a backpack. The IP NEO M variant caters to military needs with secure high-throughput connectivity for critical missions. Meanwhile, the rugged IP NEO C is tailored for commercial use in enterprise, humanitarian, and civil missions.

The Thuraya-4 satellite began its commercial service in November 2025. It is one of the largest geostationary satellites in orbit, providing resilient coverage across over 100 countries in regions such as the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. This extensive reach ensures reliable communication services across these areas.

The Orion NEO terminal supports maritime operations by aiding naval and coast guard vessels in remote or high-threat areas. For vehicular needs, the Voyager NEO terminal keeps commercial vehicles connected during transit. Additionally, the Commander terminal is certified for military use under extreme conditions.
