Social Care Forum 2024 Launches In Abu Dhabi To Foster Innovation And Global Cooperation
The Social Care Forum 2024 began today, focusing on "Enhancing Innovation and Cooperation in Social Care." This two-day event, organised by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi (DCD) with Deloitte Middle East, gathers global leaders and experts to foster innovation in the social sector.
Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Development, emphasised the forum's role as a crucial platform for promoting innovation. She stated that innovation is key to achieving sustainable development and that ambitious goals require overcoming challenges. Al Mazrouei expressed optimism about the future and stressed the importance of improving life quality.
Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili, Chairman of DCD – Abu Dhabi, praised the engaging discussions on the first day. He highlighted insights from international experts and stressed global cooperation's role in shaping social care's future. Abu Dhabi aims to be a model of excellence through innovation and international partnerships.
Hessa Buhumaid, Director-General of Dubai’s Community Development Authority, echoed these views. She underscored inclusive discussions with stakeholders to explore strategies for professional development in social care. The forum provides a timely platform for preparing social workers for future opportunities and challenges.
The first day included a panel discussion on "Global Trends in Social Services," examining emerging needs and innovative practices worldwide. Sir Geoffrey John Mulgan CBE from University College London delivered a keynote on global trends in social service design and delivery.
The forum featured over 40 speakers, including thought leaders and experts. It offered 10 workshops and interactive sessions aimed at empowering professionals in social care. An exhibition showcased innovations with participation from more than 10 government, private, and third-sector entities.
Focus on Sustainable Initiatives
Al Mazrouei noted that exchanging experiences enriches social work, elevating it to new levels. The focus is on developing sustainable initiatives that enhance individuals' well-being. She added that embracing new ideas and teamwork are essential for positive impact.
She further stated: "We believe that the future we are building today is the product of our commitment to continuous development and improvement, and creating an environment that fosters innovation, placing human development at the heart of every initiative."
The event concluded its first day with sub-sessions exploring innovations in social services, workforce development, continuing education, and expressive arts' role in children's growth. These discussions aim to empower professionals by enhancing their skills within the sector.
