Sharjah Islamic Bank Launches Part-Time Employment Initiative For University Students And Graduates
Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) has introduced a part-time employment programme for university students and recent graduates. This initiative, launched on 23rd September 2024 at the University of Sharjah, aims to provide flexible work opportunities across various departments and branches of SIB. The event was attended by officials from SIB, the Human Resources Department, and representatives from several universities in Sharjah.
Hassan Al Balghouni, Head of Corporate Communications at SIB, stated that this initiative aligns with the bank's strategy to bolster the national economy and invest in local talent. "This initiative reflects SIB’s strategy to support the national economy and invest optimally in national talent," he said. It also aims to position Sharjah as an attractive destination for career growth and job seekers.

The part-time employment programme is part of SIB's broader efforts to promote Emiratisation within the financial sector. A comprehensive study by the bank’s Human Resources team assessed labour market needs and identified best practices for part-time roles. This approach ensures alignment with current market demands while supporting local talent development.
SIB's initiative offers numerous benefits to participants, including flexible working hours of four hours per day. Employees receive a monthly salary, annual leave, and study leave during exam periods. Health insurance is also included as part of the employment package, making it an attractive option for students balancing work and studies.
During the launch event, SIB showcased its Emiratisation strategy alongside career development programmes designed to enhance employees' specialised skills. These programmes aim to equip participants with the knowledge needed to achieve their professional goals within the banking sector.
The bank highlighted how this initiative supports training a new generation of professionals in finance and banking. By offering flexible work arrangements, SIB seeks to empower students and graduates, enhancing their contributions to these sectors.
This strategic move by SIB not only addresses current labour market needs but also strengthens Sharjah's reputation as a hub for career advancement. By investing in local talent through such initiatives, SIB plays a crucial role in shaping future professionals in the region.
