Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament Begins Tomorrow With Over 1,200 Athletes Competing

The 12th Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament is set to begin tomorrow, featuring over 1,200 athletes competing in eight different sports. Organised by the Dubai Sports Council and under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the event aims to highlight women's contributions to sports. The tournament will run for two weeks until 30th October.

Bowling will kick off the tournament at 15:00 at the Dubai International Bowling Centre. Participants from government, semi-government, and private sectors are expected to take part. The tournament will also include events such as running, cycling, padel, badminton, shooting, an obstacle race, and 3x3 basketball.

Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament Starts Tomorrow

The 5-kilometre run is scheduled for Thursday, 17th October at Expo City Dubai. Following this, the padel competition will commence on Friday, 18th October at Just Padel Club in Mina Rashid and continue until 20th October. Badminton matches will be held at Al Nasr Sports Club from 21st to 24th October.

Cycling enthusiasts can look forward to a 30-kilometre race at Al Forsan Park Track in Expo City Dubai on Friday, 25th October. Shooting events are set for the Fazza Saktoun Rifle Range in Al Ruwayyah on 26th October. The obstacle race will take place at Gravity Gym in Al Quoz on 27th October.

To accommodate participants' schedules, all competitions are planned for evenings to avoid clashes with work hours. The event adheres to national federation rules but is adapted for participants from various sectors. This approach ensures maximum participation across all competitions.

Manish Dhamani, CEO of Dhamani 1969 and a key sponsor of the event, expressed his enthusiasm: "We are proud to be part of this event as we mark 10 years of collaboration with Dubai Sports Council. We wish all participants the best and hope they shine like diamonds throughout the tournament."

The final sport in the lineup is the 3x3 basketball tournament at Al Nasr Sports Club from 28th to 30th October. This diverse range of sports aims to attract female talent and raise awareness about women's roles in sports within the region.
