Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Opens Boundless Plains Exhibition Celebrating UAE-Australia Relations

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre has launched the Boundless Plains exhibition, in partnership with the Australian Embassy in the UAE and the Islamic Museum of Australia. This event commemorates 50 years of UAE-Australia relations. Key figures at the opening included Dr. Yousif Al Obaidli, Ridwaan Jadwat, Azmeena Hussain, and Moustafa Fahour. The exhibition will be accessible for two months.

Boundless Plains delves into the history of Muslims in Australia, tracing their journey from early interactions with Indigenous communities to their significant contributions in modern times. It highlights how these communities have enriched Australia's cultural landscape over the years. The exhibition features stories from Arnhem Land to inland towns where cameleers settled, showcasing their impact on Australia's economic and social fabric.

Ridwaan Jadwat, Australia's Ambassador to the UAE, remarked on the significance of this exhibition in marking half a century of UAE-Australia relations. He noted that Australia shares deep historical and cultural connections with Muslim communities. Hosting this exhibition at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre underscores these ties and highlights how over one million Muslims contribute to Australia's societal richness.

The Dome of Peace hosts Boundless Plains, offering visitors a chance to view twenty photographs and a documentary film produced during a field expedition by the Museum. This exhibition underscores civilisational exchange and cultural diversity's role in shaping modern Australian identity.

Dr. Yousif Al Obaidli emphasised that this initiative aligns with the Centre's mission to foster cultural engagement globally. By hosting such exhibitions, the Centre promotes tolerance and openness while highlighting global cultural diversity. Visitors are offered a rich experience rooted in human interaction.

The Light & Peace Museum further enhances this experience by showcasing Islamic civilisation's intellectual and artistic heritage through rare artefacts and interactive displays using advanced technologies. Visitors can also explore Diya, a 360-degree multisensory immersive experience that combines light and sound for an inspiring journey.

This exhibition not only celebrates historical ties but also serves as a platform for ongoing cultural dialogue between nations. It reflects both countries' commitment to fostering understanding through shared history and mutual respect.
