Sharjah's Deputy Ruler Sheikh Sultan Honours Winners Of Padel Championship

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, awarded winners in three categories during the second edition of the Sharjah Sports Padel Championship. The event took place at the WPA Sports Complex in Al Rahmaniya, Sharjah.

The championship featured 450 players from 26 countries, divided into three categories: UAE nationals, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and foreigners. Participants hailed from various nations including the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Professional players from Spain, Argentina, and Portugal also competed.

Issa Al Shaibani and Mohammed Al Muhairi secured first place in the national category. In the GCC and foreigners category, Bahraini Ali Diwani and Spaniard Jose Arcos clinched the top spot. The Egyptian duo Youssef Hossam and George Wakim won first place in the international category.

The winning teams were awarded AED205,000 in prizes. Additionally, attending fans received valuable rewards totalling AED100,000. Sheikh Sultan honoured referees and presented second-place shields to teams across various categories. Sponsors, supporters, and partners who organised the event were also recognised.

The tournament lasted six days and employed a knockout system for all matches leading to the final game. The final match was marked by intense competition with players showcasing exceptional performances and notable improvements since the first edition.

Sheikh Sultan attended the final match of the international tournament organised by Sharjah Sports Channel in partnership with WPA. The event attracted sheikhs, heads of government departments, representatives of sponsoring companies, and fans.

The championship aimed to foster sportsmanship among participants while providing a platform for showcasing talent from around the world. The presence of professional players added a competitive edge to the tournament.

The successful conclusion of this year's championship highlights Sharjah's commitment to promoting sports at both national and international levels. The event's organisation reflected high standards of professionalism and dedication from all involved parties.
