Sharjah's Deputy Ruler Celebrates Shams' 7th Anniversary, Unveils Future Plans

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, graced the seventh anniversary celebration of Sharjah Media City, known as "Shams," on Thursday. The event took place at the Shams Studio filming site within the city's headquarters, marking a significant milestone in the entity's journey towards media excellence and innovation.

Upon his arrival, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed received a comprehensive briefing on the filming site, meticulously prepared for a variety of uses including dramas, episode filming, and advertising purposes. He explored the site's intricate designs, multiple rooms, and expansive outdoor spaces, gaining insights into the facility's capabilities and potential.

The highlight of the ceremony was the launch of the marketing campaign for Sharjah Media City 2024. This campaign is a reflection of Shams' identity and slogan, embodying the media trends of the Emirate of Sharjah and outlining the city's ambitious plans for expansion, growth, and leadership in the media sector.

Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City, addressed the attendees with a speech that underscored the significant challenges and successes encountered by "Shams" over its seven-year journey. He emphasized that despite its small team size, Shams harbors grand aspirations and has established itself as a benchmark for media cities not only within the state but also on a regional level. Dr. Al Midfa highlighted Sharjah's pivotal role in enhancing cultural indicators and its necessity as an incubator for international media companies.

In recognition of exceptional contributions to Shams' mission, Jasima Maryam Cleor was awarded the "Ideal Employee Award ‘Shams Champion’ for 2023." This accolade is aimed at fostering skill development, encouraging innovation and creativity, achieving institutional goals, and enhancing team cohesion.

The ceremony also featured a film presentation detailing Sharjah Media City's achievements, initiatives, and activities throughout 2023. It showcased how Shams has effectively provided an ideal business environment, fostered media worker development, and strengthened partnerships with various stakeholders.

Entertainment segments, artistic performances, and an array of competitions and challenges added vibrancy to the celebration. The event saw notable attendance from key figures alongside the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah including Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa; Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council; and Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director of Sharjah Media City.
