Sheikh Nahyan Celebrates 10th International Day Of Yoga At ADNEC, Emphasizing Unity

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, attended the tenth International Day of Yoga at ADNEC. The event, themed "Yoga for Self and Society," was part of the Abu Dhabi Sports Summer activities. It was organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and ADNEC, bringing together yoga enthusiasts from various nationalities, cultures, and age groups.

Sheikh Nahyan expressed his pleasure in participating in the event. He stated, "I am pleased to participate in celebrating the tenth International Day of Yoga. We are interested in what this practice embodies and its impact on developing relationships with others based on the four principles of Respect, Understanding, Acceptance and Appreciation, which in turn reflect the UAE’s principles of tolerance and coexistence."

The minister highlighted that the UAE's vision under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan focuses on tolerance, coexistence, and individual empowerment. This vision aims to provide growth opportunities for everyone living in the country. Sheikh Nahyan noted that this approach promotes peace, harmony, happiness, and prosperity for all.

He also remarked on the diversity of participants at the event. The various nationalities, cultures, religions, and ethnicities represented reflected the UAE's integrated social fabric. He emphasised that the UAE is a model of peaceful coexistence and cooperation within a framework of tolerance and respect.

Sheikh Nahyan added that celebrating International Day of Yoga in Abu Dhabi also highlights the strong relations between India and the UAE. These relations are based on mutual respect and appreciation, with close political, commercial, and cultural ties that promise further cooperation in humanitarian efforts.

Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, commented on the diverse participation. He said, "The participants in the International Day of Yoga activities in Abu Dhabi this year represent more than 50 nationalities, which indicates that yoga brings people together because it is a philosophy, a way of life, and a path to a healthier and more peaceful world. Amidst the complexities of modern life, yoga is a safe haven and a tool for mental resilience and emotional balance."

Community Engagement through Yoga

Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, noted that over 10,000 people have participated in International Day of Yoga activities over the past three years. He stated that this reflects yoga's importance as it harmonises mind, body, and spirit. He added that yoga provides a comprehensive approach to health and wellness that fosters mental peace.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of ADNEC Group, remarked on ADNEC's commitment to supporting community initiatives. He said that holding such events aligns with their leadership's aspirations to position Abu Dhabi as a hub for sports events and an incubator for creativity and innovation.

Abu Dhabi Summer Sports

Abu Dhabi Summer Sports is one of the largest events of its kind in the Middle East. It spans over 35,000 square metres and is organised by ADNEC Group in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The event aims to encourage community members to adopt healthy lifestyles by providing suitable environments for exercise during summer.

The celebration concluded with a sense of unity among participants from different backgrounds. The event underscored how yoga can serve as a bridge between cultures while promoting health and well-being.
