Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Issues Decree To Form UAE Water Aid Foundation's Board

In a significant development aimed at bolstering humanitarian efforts, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has officially issued Decree No. (31) of 2024. This decree marks the formation of the Board of Trustees for the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), underlining a strategic move to address global water scarcity issues. The newly formed Board will be chaired by the Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), ensuring a high level of leadership and expertise at the helm of this crucial initiative.

The Board's composition is notably inclusive, featuring a representative from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emirates Red Crescent, United Arab Emirates University, and Khalifa University. Additionally, it includes three representatives from DEWA and the CEO of the UAE Water Aid Foundation itself. This diverse assembly of members from key sectors underscores the collaborative approach being adopted to tackle challenges related to water scarcity. Each member, nominated by their respective executives, holds a senior position within their organization, promising an effective governance structure for Suqia.
