Sheikh Hamdan Attends 48th Anniversary Celebration Of UAE Armed Forces Unification
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, recently graced the 48th anniversary celebration of the unification of the UAE's armed forces. This significant event took place in the Abu Mureikha area in Abu Dhabi, a site of historical importance where the agreement to unify the armed forces was signed on 6 May 1976. The ceremony was a tribute to the visionary efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and other founding leaders of the UAE.
The celebration saw the attendance of notable figures including His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, and Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President and Chairman of the UAE Camel Racing Federation. The event featured a variety of activities and performances that highlighted the historic decision to unify the armed forces, laying the groundwork for a strong and prosperous nation.
Upon his arrival, Sheikh Hamdan was welcomed by Mohammad Mubarak Fadhel Al-Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; and Lieutenant-General Engineer Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, along with other senior commanders. The Crown Prince engaged with military leaders and retired service personnel during his visit, extending his congratulations to both military and civilian recipients of armed forces medals in recognition of their contributions.
Sheikh Hamdan's participation in a military parade and his visit to a museum housing artifacts from the early history of the UAE Armed Forces were among the highlights of his visit. The museum showcased models of antique military uniforms and equipment, providing insight into the armed forces' rich heritage. Additionally, senior leadership presented Sheikh Hamdan with a model of the Abu Mureikha area headquarters, symbolizing its significance in the history of the UAE Armed Forces.
The ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials and commanders representing various divisions of the UAE Armed Forces. This gathering not only commemorated a pivotal moment in the nation's history but also reflected on the enduring vision that has propelled the UAE towards a bright future.
