Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Named 'Person Of The Year 2024' For Educational And Charitable Efforts

The Board of Trustees of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has named H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum as the ‘Person of the Year 2024’. This accolade recognises his significant contributions to education and charity, particularly through his leadership of the Emirates Airline Foundation.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed’s support as patron of various community organisations aligns with government initiatives to aid children, students, and people of determination. Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Hamdan Foundation’s Board of Trustees, stated that this honour underscores Sheikh Ahmed’s tireless efforts in promoting education and charity work.

Al Qatami emphasised that the accolade reflects profound respect for Sheikh Ahmed’s national and humanitarian contributions. His legacy is marked by progress and generosity, driving economic prosperity and advancing sectors that enhance human development and quality of life both locally and globally.

Over the past 38 years, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed has been instrumental in Dubai’s economic transformation. He has led the expansion of the aviation sector, significantly contributing to the emirate’s GDP. His efforts have also supported the formulation of economic, investment, and fiscal policies aligned with Dubai’s development vision.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed began his career in aviation in 1985 as President of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA). This entity oversaw activities at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai Duty Free. The same year, Emirates was launched with Sheikh Ahmed as its Chairman.

Currently, he serves as Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, which includes dnata. Emirates has grown into a globally recognised airline brand with a presence on six continents, connecting diverse populations and facilitating global trade.

In addition to his aviation roles, Sheikh Ahmed holds several government positions. He plays a pivotal role in leading Dubai’s finance and energy sectors. His contributions extend beyond aviation, impacting various facets of the emirate’s development.
