Sheikh Abdullah Leads SEC Meeting Focused On Sharjah’s Development And Governance

The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) convened its weekly meeting at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office. The session was chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council. H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, also attended.

During the meeting, several agenda items were discussed, focusing on enhancing government operations in Sharjah. The council aimed to improve various services and monitor development projects across different sectors.

The SEC approved the organisational structure for the Prevention and Safety Authority. This structure outlines the organisational units within the Authority's departments and divisions. It aims to enhance workflow and support the Authority in achieving its objectives.

A decision was made to close the first regular session of the nineteenth annual term of municipal councils in Sharjah, effective 27th June 2024. However, general committees within these councils will continue their work between sessions.

The council reviewed a report on the achievements of the Sharjah Foundation to Support Pioneering Entrepreneurs "Ruwad" for 2023. Since its inception, "Ruwad" has provided AED40.7 million in funding. In 2023 alone, it funded 11 projects worth AED3.8 million and granted fee exemptions totalling AED7.6 million.

The report also highlighted that "Ruwad" registered 291 new memberships for projects across cities and regions in Sharjah last year. Additionally, it offered 1,742 legal, technical, and financial consultations to its members since its establishment.

Training Programmes and Initiatives

The number of participants in training programmes and professional diploma courses reached 8,310 trainees. The report also noted various initiatives, workshops, and panel discussions aimed at supporting SME owners in Sharjah.

The SEC examined amendments proposed by the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) regarding a draft law regulating the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment. The council directed that this draft be submitted to H.H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi for legislative completion.

This meeting underscores SEC's commitment to improving governance and supporting entrepreneurial activities in Sharjah through structured planning and legislative measures.
