Sharjah Women's Sports Club Achieves Success At Thailand International Rowing Championship

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club recently participated in the Thailand International Rowing Championship in Bangkok on December 14 and 15, 2024. This event included teams from countries like the UAE, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, the US, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Germany. The club's involvement marks a significant step in its goal to enhance its international presence in rowing.

The club's under-19 female rowing team delivered remarkable performances across various races. In the 500-meter individual race, Bushra Qadri secured a silver medal with a time of 1 minute and 52 seconds. Her teammate Shamsa Al-Sharyani earned a bronze medal by finishing third with a time of 1 minute and 57 seconds.

Sharjah Women Excel at Rowing Championship

In another notable performance, Bushra Qadri excelled in a separate 500-meter individual race by clinching the gold medal with a time of 2 minutes and 12 seconds. Hamda Qadri followed closely behind to win silver with a time of 2 minutes and 18 seconds. Shamsa Al-Sharyani finished fourth at 2 minutes and 21 seconds.

The duo of Fatima Khalaf and Hamda Qadri faced stiff competition in the 1000-meter doubles rowing race but managed to secure a bronze medal with a time of 4 minutes. Their teamwork was commendable despite the challenging field.

In the 500-meter doubles event, Bushra Qadri and Hamda Qadri teamed up effectively to earn a silver medal with a time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Meanwhile, Fatima Khalaf and Shamsa Al-Sharyani finished shortly after them, securing bronze with a time of 2 minutes and 32 seconds.

Team coach Sarah Baya praised the players for their outstanding performance. She noted that their dedication to training had truly paid off. Administrator Hajar Bashbash also acknowledged their efforts, stating that this participation marks an encouraging start for the club in rowing.
