Sharjah Ruler Discusses Judiciary's Role And Principles With Judicial Council Members
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, recently met with the Judicial Council members. The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council.
At the start of the gathering, His Highness welcomed the attendees and highlighted the judiciary's crucial role in government and societal stability. He emphasised justice, adherence to duties, and achieving legal goals by applying the law's spirit for societal benefit while promoting tolerance and virtue.
The Ruler of Sharjah reiterated the importance of judicial independence during the meeting. He stated that judges should operate independently, guided only by law and conscience, without external interference except as permitted by law. This principle ensures fairness in judicial proceedings.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan stressed that truth and justice must be upheld in courts to resolve disputes effectively. Those in judicial roles should act as educators and guides to foster societal cohesion through reconciliation and forgiveness, strengthening interpersonal relationships.
The discussion also covered providing legal advice at all litigation stages to prevent issues from escalating. His Highness underscored the need for judges to stay informed about modern science and knowledge to make fair judgments while avoiding distractions that could affect their focus.
Members of the Judicial Council expressed gratitude to His Highness for entrusting them with their roles. They pledged to uphold his guidance in performing their duties effectively, ensuring they meet his expectations for justice administration.
