Sharjah Ruler H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Receives 2024 Nile Award For Arab Innovators

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received the 2024 Nile Award for Arab Innovators on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of American University of Sharjah (AUS). Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Egypt's Minister of Culture, presented the award.

The Nile Award is Egypt's highest cultural accolade, recognising distinguished Arab individuals excelling in literature, arts, and social sciences. H.H. expressed gratitude to Egypt for this honour, acknowledging its significant impact on Arab culture and education. He reflected on his academic journey at Cairo University's Faculty of Agriculture.

During the event, H.H. engaged with Ahmed Hanno, discussing his university experiences. He emphasised how cultural activities and libraries enriched students' personalities. His Highness highlighted Egypt's role in advancing societies through knowledge and culture dissemination across the region.

The meeting underscored Egypt's historical legacy and its influence on Arab and Islamic civilisation. Egypt's strong institutional framework supports its continuous cultural heritage, making it a hub for intellectuals and literary figures.

Ahmed Hanno congratulated H.H., stating: "It is a great honour... to present the 2024 Nile Award for Arab Innovators to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi... This award is a profound acknowledgment of His Highness's exceptional contributions to Arab culture..." He praised H.H.'s efforts in promoting Arab culture globally.

At the ceremony's end, Ahmed Hanno presented H.H. with an encyclopaedia detailing ancient Egyptian history as a gift.
