Sharjah Ruler Inaugurates New Headquarters For Theatrical Association To Enhance Community Engagement
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially opened the new headquarters of the Theatrical Association in Al Taawun area, Sharjah. The event took place on Wednesday morning, marked by unveiling a commemorative plaque. Members of the association, including artists and directors, celebrated this significant occasion.
The Ruler of Sharjah shared his enthusiasm with the theatre community, reflecting on his lifelong connection with theatre. He highlighted theatre's role as a powerful medium for social communication and engagement. His Highness engaged in discussions with theatre professionals about how theatre can raise societal awareness through direct performance and expression.
During conversations with theatre experts, His Highness emphasised the importance of theatrical writing in creating works that are both constructive and socially impactful. He stressed that collaboration among artists, writers, and directors is crucial since theatre is inherently a collective art form that thrives on teamwork.
His Highness also advised playwrights to grant directors creative freedom to interpret their vision authentically. This approach ensures that theatrical productions convincingly reflect society's true image. He encouraged continuous learning and academic growth among theatre professionals to enhance their skills.
The Ruler of Sharjah urged experienced practitioners to mentor young talents by providing training opportunities. He advocated for creating platforms where newcomers can learn from seasoned professionals, allowing them to showcase their artistic abilities and gain valuable experience in the field.
The Board of Trustees and members of the Theatrical Association expressed gratitude to His Highness for his unwavering support. They appreciated his encouragement and provision of a fully equipped headquarters that includes offices, meeting rooms, and facilities for hosting events related to theatre and arts.

The inauguration was attended by notable figures such as Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture; Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of Protocol and Hospitality Department; Ismail Abdullah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Ahmed Al Jasmi, Vice Chairman; along with numerous artists and officials.
"Theatre offers actors a platform to address audiences directly," said His Highness. "It encourages interaction through sincere artistic expression." This sentiment underscores the importance he places on theatre as a tool for societal influence.
The new headquarters aims to foster regular gatherings among theatre professionals. It will serve as a hub for organising events and seminars that promote cultural exchange and artistic development within the community.
