Sharjah Ruler Launches Third Phase Of Rhetorical Interpretation And Warsh Narration Encyclopedias
H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the third phase of the "Rhetorical Interpretation" Encyclopedia and the Warsh Narration Encyclopedia on 18 March 2025. This event took place during the graduation ceremony for 329 reciters at the Sharjah Holy Quran Academy, held at University City Hall.
The "Rhetorical Interpretation" Encyclopedia now comprises 47 volumes across three phases, with over 110,000 rhetorical titles. The latest phase includes 22 volumes covering eight chapters of the Holy Quran. Additionally, the Warsh Narration Encyclopedia's second edition focuses on individual reading methods and consists of 18 volumes.
Dr Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Sharjah Holy Quran Academy, expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan for his continuous support. He highlighted the Academy's global mission to enhance Sharjah's role in promoting and preserving Quranic heritage through scientific and research initiatives.
Al Tunaiji stated that since its inception, the Academy has made significant progress towards its goals. The new strategy for 2024-2026 aims to position the Academy as a leader in preserving Quranic knowledge and advancing studies related to it.
The Academy has published eight scientific works focusing on linguistic and rhetorical aspects to aid students and researchers in their studies. These publications provide valuable resources for those studying Quranic recitations.
Al-Taniji mentioned that by March 2025, the number of students registered in the Sharjah International Electronic Recitation Centre reached 938, with a total of 1,742 recitations taught by qualified reciters.
Honouring Achievements
During the event, H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan honoured sponsors and supporters of the Academy with certificates of appreciation and shields. A commemorative photo was taken with scholars who contributed to completing both encyclopedias.
The ceremony concluded with graduates receiving their Quranic licenses, which trace back to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This highlights the Academy's commitment to spreading Arab and Islamic identity globally.
Encyclopedia Details
The Encyclopedia of Rhetorical Interpretation is unique in addressing Quranic rhetoric comprehensively. It explores semantic distinctions between terms using primary interpretive sources. Meanwhile, the Encyclopedia of Methods of Separating Readings focuses on Quranic recitations' science through three branches.
This project includes a single-narrator method detailed across more than ten volumes. It features a Qur'an with marginal notes explaining narration rules and a special appendix displaying narration family trees.
Expanding Reach
The Sharjah Global Electronic Recitation Centre is one of three pillars supporting researchers and students interested in Quranic studies. The Academy aims to strengthen its role by advancing recitation programmes and fostering national expertise through local and international partnerships.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Abdullah Mohammed Al Owais, Dr Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Ali Ahmed Bu Ghazin, Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mail, Jamal Al Turaifi, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Abdullah bin Yarouf Al Sabousi among others.
