Sharjah's Ruler Establishes New Board Of Trustees For Education Academy
H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Administrative Decision to establish the Board of Trustees for the Sharjah Education Academy (SEA). This decision appoints Dr. Muhaddith Yahya Al Hashemi, President of SEA, as the chairman.
The board includes several notable members. Dr. Khawla Abdul Rahman Al Mulla, a member of the Executive Council and Chairperson of the Sharjah Family Affairs Authority, is one of them. Another significant appointee is Dr. Najwa Mohammed Al-Housani, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Kalba.

Dr. Rashed Nasser Abu Shabas Al Ali, Director of the Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources, also joins the board. Additionally, Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, Director of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, is included in this esteemed group.
The board's membership extends internationally with Dr. Kirsti Lonka from Finland's University of Helsinki and Dr. Pauline Gaye Taylor from Australia's Council for Educational Research. Their expertise in educational psychology and research will be invaluable.
Dr. Dragan Gasevic from Monash University in Australia and Dr. Alexandra Allan from the University of Exeter in the UK are also part of this diverse team. They bring extensive knowledge in learning analytics and education management.
International Contributions
From the United States, Dr. Timothy Knowles, CEO of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and Dr. Steven Barnett from Rutgers University join as experts in teaching advancement and early childhood care policy respectively.
Michael Thompson, CEO of British Childbase Partnership, along with Dr. Geir Graus, an International Early Childhood Consultant, add further depth to the board's international expertise.
Local Representation
Najla Al Midfa serves as Vice-Chairperson of Sheraa while Mohammed Obaid Al-Shamsi is Director General of the Sharjah Social Security Fund. Khalaf Abdullah Khalaf holds dual roles as Deputy CEO and Head of Internal Audit for Sharjah Islamic Bank Group.
Term Details
The term for each board member is set at three years but can be renewed for additional terms. Members whose terms have expired may be reappointed under this decision.
