Sharjah Ruler Establishes New Cycling Club To Promote Healthy Lifestyles And Community Engagement

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree to establish the Sharjah Cycling Club. This club will have its own legal status and operate under the Sharjah Sports Council's guidance. The main office will be in Sharjah City, with potential branches elsewhere in the emirate as decided by the Sports Council.

The decree outlines several goals for the club. These include enhancing Sharjah's cycling reputation locally and globally, supporting sports and cultural sectors, and promoting cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice. The club aims to create a modern legal framework for cycling, ensuring safety standards on all tracks.

New Cycling Club Established in Sharjah

The club is tasked with forming policies and strategic plans for cycling activities in the emirate. It will nurture future leaders in cycling, oversee track creation, and coordinate events with relevant authorities. The club also represents Sharjah in cycling matters both domestically and internationally.

To achieve its objectives, the club will organise festivals, competitions, and conferences related to cycling. It aims to foster a culture of cycling through awareness campaigns and provide resources to encourage community participation in cycling activities.

The club's board consists of a president, vice president, and members appointed by the governor or their representative. Members serve four-year terms that can be renewed. The board manages the club's affairs, formulates policies, oversees operations, and ensures compliance with laws.

Membership criteria include being a citizen of the country, having full legal capacity, good character, no criminal record unless civil rights are restored by law, being at least 21 years old, not serving on another club's board, and holding at least a high school diploma or equivalent.

Membership Conditions

A council member may lose their position due to death or if they no longer meet membership requirements. Resignation accepted by the sports council or absence from meetings without valid excuses can also lead to termination. Vacancies are filled by appointment for the remaining term.

The board is responsible for creating financial regulations and internal procedures submitted to the Sports Council. It proposes budgets and approves final accounts while representing the club in negotiations after securing approval from the Sports Council.

Operational Management

The executive director will be appointed by the board with sports council approval. This individual must have expertise in sports and cultural sectors. The board defines their responsibilities while ensuring accountability for actions taken within their role.

The decree includes provisions covering legal aspects of board meetings, financial resources management, fiscal year details, organizational structure decisions, regulations implementation along with concluding provisions ensuring clarity across all areas involved.
