Sharjah Ruler Chairs University Of Kalba Board Meeting To Discuss New Academic Programmes And Digital Initiatives

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, led the University of Kalba's Board of Trustees meeting. He praised the board's efforts in enhancing the university's reputation among similar institutions. The Ruler highlighted that these achievements reflect a strategic vision for nurturing national talents and creating an academic environment conducive to research and community needs.

The Board discussed various agenda items, focusing on monitoring university performance and expanding academic offerings. After deliberations, they approved new programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year. These include Bachelor degrees in Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Nutrition and Health Wellness, E-Sports and Interactive Technologies, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Additionally, two tracks will be added to the existing Sports Science programme: Physical Education and Sports Coaching and Management.

The Ruler emphasised the importance of integrating academic disciplines and fostering collaboration between colleges. This approach aims to strengthen the educational ecosystem by offering students diverse opportunities to gain knowledge and skills. Such integration is seen as crucial for building an advanced university environment that prepares students for creativity, innovation, and community service.

Dr Najwa Al Hosani, Director of the University of Kalba, presented a report on last year's achievements. The report covered academic development, research enhancement, community engagement, and digital transformation. She confirmed the university's commitment to its strategic plan aimed at achieving excellence in academics and research while supporting community service.

The President of the University inaugurated a new library website during the meeting. This launch is part of efforts to enhance digital transformation by broadening access to academic resources. The platform offers over 400,000 electronic journals and 300,000 digital books alongside international databases like EBSCO, ProQuest, and Emerald.

The Ruler reviewed innovative projects by students that showcased creativity and active citizenship among Sharjah's youth. He listened to student explanations about their projects' outcomes, reflecting their acquired scientific skills. The Ruler commended both students' efforts and staff initiatives that contribute to community service while reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a centre of creativity.

Recognition of Student Achievements

The Ruler also examined notable titles, medals, awards earned by students through distinguished international participations where they achieved top rankings with their inventions. Students expressed gratitude towards His Highness for his support in providing modern equipment enabling them to transform ideas into tangible achievements.

The Board reviewed reports from specialised committees such as Academic Committee or Financial Resource Development Committee approving recommendations aimed at strengthening future progress within university operations.

This meeting underscored ongoing dedication towards enhancing educational quality through strategic planning aligned with global standards ensuring comprehensive development across various domains within academia at University Of Kalba under leadership guidance provided by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
