Sharjah Ruler Receives 'Key Of Hope' For Dedication To Youth Development

The Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre is currently spotlighting the 'Key of Hope' memento throughout its 'Prize Story' series this month. This unique accolade was bestowed upon H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, by his granddaughter, Sheikha Maryam bint Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, during the inauguration of the 28th Sharjah International Book Fair in November 2009. The event was celebrated under the theme "In Love with the Written Word."

The initiative by the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre is designed to highlight a significant award or item from the collection of the Ruler of Sharjah on a monthly basis. The 'Key of Hope' symbolizes the deep appreciation for the contributions made by His Highness towards enriching the lives of children and young individuals in Sharjah. His dedication has been instrumental in placing human development at the core of progress within the emirate.

Under the guidance of the Sharjah Ruler, several institutions have been established to support this vision. These include Sharjah Children’s Centres, the Sharjah Youth Centre, and Sajaya Sharjah Girls. The collective efforts of various sectors and organizations in Sharjah have led to its recognition as a "Child and Adolescent-friendly City" by UNICEF.

The presentation of the 'Key of Hope' to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi took place in November 2009 amidst his visit to several pavilions at the Sharjah International Book Fair, including Kalimat Publishing and Distribution House. During this event, children from Victoria International School performed readings from "If I Were a Bird" before presenting the memento to the Sharjah Ruler. This act was a heartfelt expression of love and gratitude from Sheikha Maryam and the children for His Highness’s unwavering commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for children not only in the Arab world but globally.

This gesture underscores the profound impact of His Highness’s initiatives aimed at promoting education and well-being among young people.
