Sharjah Camel Racing Festival Opens Eight Races Under Ruler Patronage
The 2026 season of the Sharjah Ruler's Purebred Arabian Camel Festival for weanling camels opened under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The event highlighted early-season form and showcased young Purebred Arabian racing stock.
The opening meeting at Al Dhaid Camel Racing Track featured eight races for weanling camels owned by members of different tribes. Six contests were set aside for residents of Al Dhaid, while two races were open events, drawing wider participation from across camel racing circles.

The first race produced the fastest time of the festival’s opening day. "Nimroda," owned by Sultan Saif Awad Al Ketbi, covered the course in 1:45.9 to secure victory. The second race went to "Shaheen," owned by Nasser Hamad Saeed Al Mansouri, maintaining strong competition across the early programme.

Further races at the Sharjah Ruler's Purebred Arabian Camel Festival delivered varied results across owners and stables. "Bint Al-Baz" won the third race for Sultan Hareb Dahhi Al-Mansouri, while the fourth race went to "Al-Shars," owned by Sultan Saif Awad Al-Ketbi. The fifth event saw "Al-Shahiniya" first for Abdullah Humaid Hareb Al-Shamsi, followed by "Shaheen" for the same owner in the sixth race.
The closing two races of the meeting continued to underline competitive depth. "Al-Shahiniya" secured the seventh race for Abdullah Rashid Mohammed Al-Ghafli, and the eighth race was won by "Shaheen," owned by Khalifa Ali Khalifa Humaidan Al-Falasi. These outcomes reflected broad tribal participation within structured festival conditions.
Abdullah Mohammed Muadhd bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, stated that the weanling races at Al Dhaid take place under the directives and support of the Ruler of Sharjah. Abdullah Mohammed Muadhd bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi explained that the festival helps preserve camel racing heritage in the UAE.
