Sharjah Press Club Unveils Emirate’s Cultural Initiatives At Xposure International Photography Festival

In a vibrant celebration of culture and photography, the Sharjah Press Club, under the auspices of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), has curated an immersive experience for local and international media representatives and photographers at the Xposure International Photography Festival 2024. This initiative has opened up a window to the rich tapestry of Sharjah's landmarks and events, offering a comprehensive view of the emirate's heritage and modern advancements.

The journey commenced at the "Heart of Sharjah," known for being the epicenter of heritage preservation within the city and perhaps, the region. This extensive restoration project allowed participants to delve into the essence of Emirati architecture, historic buildings, museums, traditional markets, and archaeological sites. The initiative seamlessly weaves together the threads of past, present, and future, offering a unique narrative of Sharjah's evolution.

Another highlight was the visit to Sharjah Media City (Shams), which stands as a testament to Sharjah's commitment to nurturing media startups, small and medium enterprises, and freelancers. Shams is designed to provide cost-effective solutions that bolster the growth of entrepreneurial ventures in the media sector, thereby enhancing Sharjah's position as a hub for media innovation.

A Glimpse into Islamic Art

The tour also included a visit to the Sharjah Grand Mosque, an architectural marvel that pays homage to Islamic art through its use of Arabic calligraphy and intricate designs. With 81 domes and two minarets standing at 75 metres each, the mosque is not just a place of worship but a cultural tourism destination that celebrates Islamic heritage.

Sharjah Cinema Days

The 'Sharjah Cinema Days' event at Jebel Buhais' geological park marked another significant stop in the tour. Organized by the 'Funun Foundation,' this festival provides a creative platform for filmmakers and artists, aiming to foster empowerment and contribute to the artistic and cultural vibrancy of Sharjah, the UAE, and beyond.

The Xposure International Photography Festival has been lauded by participants for its role in promoting dialogue, communication, and cultural exchange. Through these meticulously organized field trips, attendees were offered a panoramic view of Sharjah's cultural landscape, enabling them to capture its essence through their lenses.
