Sharjah Police Launches 'Accident-free Summer' Road Safety Campaign To Enhance Driver Awareness

The Sharjah Police General Command has initiated a campaign called "Accident-free Summer" in collaboration with ENOC Group (Tasjeel) and AutoPro. This initiative, led by the Vehicle and Driver Licensing Department and the Technical Inspection Department, aims to reduce traffic accidents by promoting preventive measures. The campaign underscores the importance of vehicle safety, particularly during the summer months.

Brigadier Dr. Jassim bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director-General of Operations and Security Support, emphasised the significance of this campaign in enhancing road safety. He noted that proactive services like tire inspections are crucial for preventing accidents and saving lives. The partnership with Tasjeel and AutoPro is seen as vital in spreading road safety awareness across Sharjah and the UAE.

Sharjah Police's Summer Road Safety Initiative

As part of the campaign, drivers can avail themselves of free vehicle inspections at Tasjeel centres in Sharjah. These inspections focus on critical areas such as tire pressure, expiration dates, and potential damage that could lead to blowouts or accidents. Regular checks are encouraged to ensure vehicles are safe for travel during high temperatures.

The launch event was attended by several key figures, including Brigadier Khalid Mohammed Al Kay, Director of the Vehicle and Driver Licensing Department; Rashid Ali Gharib, Director of Operations at Tasjeel; and Major Marwan Obaid Al Naqbi, Head of the Technical Inspection Department. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort between public and private sectors to promote road safety.

The campaign offers a free comprehensive vehicle inspection covering ten essential checkpoints. These include tire pressure and condition, engine belt integrity, air conditioning system functionality, filters, headlights and taillights condition, battery health, cooling hoses status, fluid levels (such as engine oil and coolant), among other components crucial for road safety.

In addition to offering free inspections at designated centres, Sharjah Police will conduct random technical checks on roads. They will also visit various government agencies to inspect employee vehicles for roadworthiness. This approach aims to ensure that all vehicles meet safety standards before hitting the roads.

Brigadier Dr. Al Suwaidi reiterated that tire inspection is a top preventive measure that can significantly reduce accidents. He acknowledged the effective partnership with Tasjeel and AutoPro in advancing the campaign’s success and spreading a culture of road safety across Sharjah and beyond.

This initiative aligns with Sharjah Police's ongoing efforts to foster a culture of prevention through collaboration with private entities. By focusing on vehicle readiness and driver awareness during summer travel peaks, they aim to minimise traffic incidents effectively.
