Sharjah Police Academy Unveils Fifth Cycle Of Scientific Research Award To Promote Security Excellence

The Sharjah Police Academy has launched the fifth cycle of its Scientific Research Award, highlighting Sharjah's cultural significance in the Arab and Islamic world. Brigadier General Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director-General of the Academy, shared that this award focuses on three main areas: security work excellence, criminal investigation, and police management.

The first area emphasises high standards in security work, including strategic management and service quality. It also covers institutional excellence and innovation. The second area delves into criminal investigation, focusing on crime prevention, cybersecurity, data analysis, crime forecasting, and AI use in security. The third area is police management, which includes smart security services and knowledge management.

Sharjah Police Academy Launches Research Award

Brigadier Al Othmani highlighted the positive impact of previous award cycles on scientific research at local, Arab, and international levels. He noted that these awards have inspired Emirati and Arab researchers to produce significant studies in security fields. The outcomes of these studies have been instrumental in updating academic programmes at the Academy for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The award is structured into three levels: institutional, individual, and collaborative research. The institutional level targets organisations; the individual level is for university students, employees, and personnel within educational and police institutions. Collaborative research involves university students, academics, researchers, and police staff. For this level, an Emirati participant must be included if the lead researcher is not a UAE national.

Registration for the award opened today on the Academy's website and will remain open until 4th April 2025. Winners will be announced in June 2025 during a special ceremony. Cash prizes are set at AED50,000 for first place, AED20,000 for second place, and AED10,000 for third place across all levels.

The response to this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive each year. This ensures its continuation as an annual event that significantly contributes to enhancing scientific research in security domains.
