Sharjah Museums Welcome Over 1.7 Million Visitors In 2023, Showcasing Cultural Impact
The Sharjah Press Club (SPC), under the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, hosted a dialogue session on Tuesday. This event was part of the Tawasul initiative and took place at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. It gathered media representatives and senior officials from the Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA).
Attendees included Aisha Rashid Ali Bin Deemas, Director-General of SMA, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the same bureau, and Asma Al Juwaied, Manager of SPC. Allay began by praising SMA's significant contribution to promoting Arab and Islamic culture globally.

Allay stressed the importance of collaboration between media entities and government bodies. He highlighted that such partnerships are crucial for effectively communicating essential messages to the public. This cooperation ensures that cultural narratives reach a broader audience.
Aisha Rashid Ali Bin Deemas detailed SMA's strategy and mission during her speech. She explained that their approach is inspired by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's vision. The authority focuses on enhancing Sharjah’s cultural and educational landscape through its museums.
SMA operates 16 museums showcasing art, history, Islamic culture, archaeology, heritage, science, and marine life. These institutions play a vital role in promoting UAE's culture and tourism. Bin Deemas emphasized their commitment to education through these world-class facilities.
In 2023, visitor numbers to Sharjah Museums exceeded 1.7 million. The SMA Director-General highlighted this achievement while reaffirming their dedication to multilingual publications. They aim to spread their cultural message globally with materials available in English, German, and Urdu.
International Engagements
The Authority actively engages in international events throughout the year. They also collaborate academically with universities and researchers worldwide. These efforts help in sharing knowledge and fostering global cultural exchanges.
