Sharjah Chamber Initiates Pakistan Business Council To Bolster Economic Ties
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has introduced the Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah to enhance economic ties between the emirate and Pakistan. This initiative aims to boost trade and investment, promote mutual opportunities, and support private sector growth in comprehensive economic development.
The inauguration at SCCI’s headquarters saw attendance from Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE; Waleed Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI; Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; and Syed Muhammad Tahir, Chairman of the Founding Committee of Pakistan Business Council, among other dignitaries.

Al Owais mentioned that the Pakistan Business Council adds to the network of business councils under SCCI. He highlighted that this council aligns with SCCI’s strategy to expand business councils, fostering economic collaboration, cross-border partnerships, and strengthening global business ties. He noted the UAE and Pakistan's close relationship marked by strategic economic and trade partnerships.
The non-oil trade between the UAE and Pakistan reached AED25.7 billion in 2022, a 30 percent increase from AED19.8 billion in 2021. This reflects both countries' commitment to deepening relations. Additionally, the UAE plans a US$10 billion investment in Pakistan's key sectors.
The council will enable Pakistani entrepreneurs to expand their businesses across the UAE and explore regional markets. They can engage in joint ventures, conferences, trade shows, and delegate exchanges. It will represent Pakistani business interests, ensuring they benefit from the services offered by SCCI.
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi commended SCCI’s efforts in supporting entrepreneurs, enhancing employment, and driving innovation. Syed Muhammad Tahir appreciated the council's role in creating economic opportunities and fostering collaboration between the business communities of both nations.
