Sharjah Launches BASE39: A Creative District Merging Arts And Technology For Future Innovation
Sharjah has introduced "BASE39," a new creative initiative from the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK). The event was graced by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasmi, SPARK's Chairperson. This project strengthens Sharjah's reputation as a hub for culture, arts, and innovation, aligning with its philosophy of nurturing talent and supporting creative industries to build a diverse economy.
The launch of BASE39 coincides with SPARK's upcoming 10th anniversary in 2026. Over the past decade, SPARK has seen significant growth through investments and partnerships with global technology firms. This new project marks an expansion phase aimed at broadening the scope of creative industries within its ecosystem.
BASE39 is designed as a multidisciplinary platform that unites artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and tech startups across various fields like digital arts, media, architecture, fashion, music, and interactive arts. It aims to foster collaboration among these diverse sectors to drive innovation and economic development.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi remarked: "BASE39 is the latest expression of Sharjah’s understanding that creativity thrives where people are empowered – to imagine, collaborate and innovate. We’re building spaces where creative minds interact, inspire each another and sow the seeds for a cultural and economic future that benefits us all."

The opening ceremony attracted numerous artists, entrepreneurs, creatives, cultural leaders, and representatives from both public and private sectors. Attendees explored BASE39's facilities including creative spaces dedicated to arts and design technologies.
A Platform for Future Innovators
BASE39 offers co-working spaces alongside design labs, audio-visual studios, exhibition areas, fabrication labs in partnership with SPARK’s SoiLab. It also provides incubation programs for startups across sectors like visual arts, media production, architecture, gaming, digital innovation among others.
The project aims to enhance Sharjah's creative ecosystem by supporting SMEs while attracting both local and international talent. It reflects Sharjah’s global standing as a cultural capital known for its museums and artistic festivals.
SPARK officials highlighted BASE39's significance in boosting Sharjah’s creative economy during the launch event. The ceremony featured performances by students from the American University of Sharjah along with an artistic showcase by Emirati Artist ABRI.
This initiative not only supports cross-disciplinary innovation but also empowers students and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into reality. It strengthens SPARK’s role as a hub for future-focused solutions while promoting strategic partnerships between government entities and academic institutions.
