Sharjah Welcomes High-Level Korean Delegation To Enhance Cooperation In Artificial Intelligence And Digital Transformation

The Emirate of Sharjah recently hosted a high-level delegation from the Seoul AI Foundation and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. This visit, organised by the Sharjah Digital Department (SDD), aimed to enhance cooperation between the UAE and South Korea in digital transformation and innovation. The focus was on exploring potential partnerships in artificial intelligence and smart government services.

During their stay, the delegation met with Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director-General of SDD, at the House of Wisdom. The meeting included Rashid Ali Al Ali from Sharjah Communications Technologies Authority and Majid Almadhloum, an advisor to SDD. Key discussions centred around joint AI projects, smart city development, and sharing best practices in digital infrastructure.

Sharjah Hosts Korean Delegation for AI Cooperation

Kang Ok-hyun, General Director of Digital City Bureau at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, led the visiting team. Both parties exchanged insights on standout initiatives in digital transformation. They also explored opportunities for collaboration on AI-driven projects that could benefit both regions. This exchange highlighted Sharjah's role as a leader in digital innovation.

Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi emphasised the importance of this visit as a milestone for strategic partnerships with a leading city in digital transformation. He stated that such collaboration "represents the most effective path toward achieving sustainable development that benefits our communities and aligns with our shared aspirations." He expressed hope for long-term cooperation between Sharjah and Seoul.

After the meeting, the delegation toured key urban development sites like University City and the Aljada project. These locations showcased Sharjah’s advanced smart infrastructure and urban planning efforts. The tour highlighted how these developments support Sharjah's ongoing journey towards digital transformation.

The visit concluded at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP). Here, delegates explored innovative research initiatives and smart labs driving entrepreneurship. A notable highlight was the SOI Lab, which focuses on artificial intelligence applications.

This strategic visit underscores Sharjah’s dedication to fostering global partnerships and enhancing its international leadership in digital transformation. It aligns with Sharjah's vision of building a sustainable, innovative digital city. Such collaborations are expected to pave the way for future projects in AI and smart city development.
