Sharjah Islamic Affairs Organises Extensive Ramadan Lecture Series
In a significant move to enhance religious understanding and community engagement during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department has successfully organized a comprehensive series of 11,110 lessons and lectures across the emirate's mosques. This initiative, aimed at enriching the spiritual experience of the community, also extended its reach to governmental institutions, departments, and bodies with 32 lectures, alongside 14 virtual sessions conducted via various social media platforms.
The Fatwa Centre, operating under the department, played a crucial role in this initiative by addressing over 900 inquiries and fatwas from the public through its toll-free number 8001441. A notable feature of this year's Ramadan programme was the special night dedicated exclusively to women, highlighting the department's commitment to inclusivity.

Abdullah Khalifa Yaroof Al Sebusi, Chairman of Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department, underscored the comprehensive nature of the Ramadan programme, which was designed to encompass all cities within the emirate. This initiative not only underscores the pivotal role of Ramadan in the Muslim community but also reflects the department's dedication to fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic principles and practices.
The lessons and lectures offered during this period focused on elucidating the core principles of Ramadan and key aspects of fasting jurisprudence. Additionally, the department introduced lessons interpreting the Holy Quran, aimed at explaining its vocabulary and clarifying its rulings, orders, and directives. The initiative also included awareness lectures urging public participation in charitable work and explaining the virtue of charity.
To cater to the diverse demographic within Sharjah, certain mosques were designated to serve non-Arab communities. These mosques facilitated lessons conducted in English, Urdu, and Malaybari during Ramadan, ensuring that the message of this holy month reached as wide an audience as possible.
This extensive programme by the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department not only served to enhance religious knowledge among Muslims but also played a vital role in promoting community cohesion and charitable acts during one of Islam's most revered months.
