Sharjah And Guinea Collaborate To Enhance Development In Civil Aviation And Cultural Exchange

Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah, recently met with Sekou Cherifke Camara, the Ambassador of Guinea to the UAE. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in civil aviation and cultural exchanges. Sheikh Majid Al Qasimi, Director of DGR, was also present at this significant gathering held at the House of Wisdom.

The discussions highlighted the potential for economic collaboration between Sharjah and Guinea. Sheikh Fahim emphasised Sharjah’s commitment to attracting Guinean businesses to the emirate. He noted that Sharjah's growing aviation sector is pivotal for boosting trade and investment with West African nations, especially Guinea. This sector plays a crucial role in facilitating economic relations.

Sharjah and Guinea Enhance Development Cooperation

Sekou Cherifke Camara expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for supporting Guinean students at Al Qasimia University. He acknowledged the university's role in fostering cultural dialogue between Guinea and the UAE. Currently, 39 Guinean students are enrolled there, serving as a bridge for cultural and academic communication.

Both parties explored potential collaborations with the Alliance Française in Sharjah to support Guinean students further. Discussions included plans to present books authored by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi in Arabic and French to cultural institutions in Guinea. They also deliberated on opportunities for collaboration with Al Qasimia University to increase Guinean student numbers.

Sheikh Fahim outlined an initiative to enhance cultural exchanges between the Alliance Française and institutions in Guinea. He mentioned exploring the possibility of establishing Guinean cultural centres in Sharjah, leveraging the strong presence of French language in Guinea.

Opportunities for Development

The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Sharjah and West African nations. Both sides highlighted enhancing strategic partnerships to support sustainable development in African countries. DGR expressed readiness to organise a visit to Guinea focused on developmental, economic, cultural, and academic sectors.

The Ambassador highlighted Guinea’s vast natural resources and substantial economic opportunities as promising avenues for trade cooperation with Sharjah. He praised previous meetings with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry that generated ideas to enhance economic relations and share expertise.

Sekou Cherifke Camara looked forward to DGR’s visit, emphasising its importance in strengthening relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors.
