Sharjah Consultative Council Concludes Second Regular Session Of Its Eleventh Legislative Term With Key Achievements
The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) wrapped up its second regular session of the eleventh legislative term after nine months of dedicated work. This session, which ran from October 10, 2024, to June 19, 2025, was characterised by active parliamentary engagement and significant achievements. The Council's efforts reflected a strong institutional commitment to addressing key issues in the emirate through effective legislative and oversight activities.
Throughout this session, the SCC held 17 general meetings where they discussed various laws and public policies. These discussions were aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The Council approved 10 draft laws covering essential sectors and addressed four major public issues involving government departments like the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, and the Department of Economic Development.

During these sessions, members raised 194 direct questions to delve into government policies and monitor how well authorities implemented recommendations. A total of 93 members either spoke or submitted inquiries during these meetings. This resulted in 205 parliamentary interventions that significantly influenced the Council's direction and final recommendations.
The SCC's oversight role included addressing two specific parliamentary questions. Rashid Abdullah bin Huwaiden raised concerns about Emiratisation in the private sector, while Hamad Abdulwahab Al Qouadi focused on promoting officers within the Sharjah Police and Security Force. These efforts culminated in 25 comprehensive recommendations aimed at supporting Sharjah’s development journey.
The Council’s internal committees were highly active, holding 43 intensive meetings on specialised topics. They also conducted 41 field visits to various departments across the emirate to gather firsthand information and assess service realities. These efforts ensured a thorough understanding of on-the-ground conditions.
The Office of the Council, led by its President and committee heads, convened four times to coordinate legislative agendas and guide parliamentary work. This coordination was crucial for maintaining a cohesive approach to legislative responsibilities.
Leadership Reflections
Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the SCC, expressed pride in their accomplishments. He highlighted that this session exemplified collaboration between legislative and executive branches under H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi’s leadership. "What has been accomplished is the result of constructive cooperation and active engagement among Council members, committees, and the wider community," he stated.
Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of the SCC, noted that strategic planning by the General Secretariat and committees contributed to this session's success. He emphasised that their work reflects a strong institutional spirit fulfilling national responsibilities.
Al Jarwan also assured continued support from the General Secretariat for implementing recommendations aligned with leadership visions for Sharjah’s community interests.
