Sharjah Chamber Collaborates With Portuguese Business Council To Boost Private Sector Cooperation

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently engaged with the Portuguese Business Council to explore ways to boost collaboration between their private sectors. Discussions centred on enhancing the Council's role in supporting Portuguese businesses in Sharjah, facilitating trade missions, and organising economic conferences. The meeting aimed to align these efforts with SCCI's strategic goals to promote bilateral trade and investment growth.

The meeting was held at "Bait Elowal" and was a joint effort by SCCI and the Portuguese Business Council, celebrating Portugal's National Day. Key attendees included Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; Waleed AbdelRahman BuKhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI; Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI; Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at SCCI; Heba Al Marzouqi, Head of the Business Councils and Joint Committees Department at SCCI; Lurdes Eusebio, Chairperson of the Portuguese Business Council in Sharjah; Manuel Couto Miranda, Economic Advisor at the Portuguese Trade and Investment Authority, along with other Council members.

Sharjah and Portugal Strengthen Business Ties

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais warmly congratulated the Portuguese Business Council on Portugal’s National Day during his welcoming remarks. He highlighted significant progress in economic relations between both countries due to strategic agreements that have paved the way for an advanced partnership. He noted Sharjah's commitment to expanding global partnerships with promising markets like Portugal, citing opportunities in emerging sectors such as sustainable tourism and smart agriculture.

A presentation film showcased the achievements of the Portuguese Business Council and its collaborative milestones with SCCI. It highlighted joint initiatives that have strengthened the business environment and attracted Portuguese investments to Sharjah. Both sides also discussed plans to enhance the Council’s efficiency and reinforce its role as a platform for promoting economic partnerships.

Lurdes Eusebio expressed that this gathering marks a new milestone in ongoing collaboration between the Portuguese Business Council and SCCI. She emphasised efforts to strengthen the presence of Portuguese enterprises in Sharjah by expanding their commercial reach. She also pointed out Sharjah's attractive business landscape supported by diverse investment prospects, robust infrastructure, and various entrepreneurial incentives.

The discussions also focused on development plans aimed at boosting investment cooperation in priority sectors aligned with both business communities' goals. These efforts are expected to enhance operational efficiency within the Council while promoting economic partnerships further.
