Sharjah Chamber And Canadian Consulate Explore New Strategic Business Partnership For Economic Growth
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) recently engaged in discussions with the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai to explore ways to enhance economic cooperation. The focus was on transforming existing trade and investment relationships into a strategic partnership. This dialogue emphasised the importance of institutional frameworks that support business communities in both Sharjah and Canada.
During the meeting, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, hosted Anthony Finch, Deputy Consul General and Senior Trade Commissioner of the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai. Several officials from both sides were present. The discussions centred on strengthening communication channels among business stakeholders to reinforce the robust economic relationship between the UAE and Canada.

The Sharjah Chamber outlined its strategic vision to attract investments in key sectors like AI, healthcare, and education. These sectors are knowledge-based and value-driven, aligning with the chamber's goals. The Chamber also acknowledged Canadian businesses' contributions to Sharjah’s economy, recognising them as a solid foundation for shared development goals.
Al Owais highlighted that UAE–Canada ties exemplify a well-developed partnership. He noted that the UAE ranks among Canada's top regional export markets. He also mentioned the UAE–Canada Business Council's role in supporting major enterprises. "The Chamber aspires to sign a memorandum of understanding with a counterpart regional chamber in Canada," Al Owais stated.
The Canadian delegation praised the proactive efforts of the Sharjah Chamber to strengthen bilateral cooperation. They commended its strategic approach to empowering business communities to access opportunities in both Canadian and Emirati markets. They emphasised that Canada views Sharjah as an attractive investment hub due to its modern business ecosystem.
Sharjah's world-class infrastructure, strategic geographic positioning, and extensive trade networks make it appealing for investors. As part of efforts to attract Canadian investment, the Sharjah Chamber shared Expo Centre Sharjah's upcoming events calendar with the Canadian delegation during their meeting.
Future Collaboration Initiatives
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination. They agreed on turning shared strategic visions into actionable initiatives that advance business collaboration. This commitment reflects their intention to build upon deep historical ties between the UAE and Canada.
