Sharjah Border Committee Discusses Initiatives For Enhanced Operational Efficiency At Border Points
The Organisational Committee of Ports and Border Points in Sharjah convened its fourth periodic meeting for 2025 in the Al Madam area. Chaired by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, the meeting aimed to boost operational efficiency at border points across the emirate. Discussions centred on infrastructure improvements, modernising technical systems, and simplifying procedures to align with recent advancements.
During the meeting, a field visit was conducted to the Al Madam border point. This location connects Sharjah’s Central Region with Al Rawdah in Oman’s Al Buraimi Governorate. The Committee highlighted the importance of enhancing infrastructure efficiency and ensuring essential operational needs are met at this border point.

The Committee praised operational agencies for fostering effective collaboration among stakeholders and authorities. They recommended creating an integrated framework to develop the Al Madam border point, aiming to elevate its standards in line with UAE's development strategies, particularly those of Sharjah.
Key officials attended the meeting, including Lieutenant Colonel Walid Mohammed Al Nehm from Sharjah Police and Lieutenant Colonel Imran Al Shamsi from Khatm Milaha Border Point’s Passport Control Center. Also present were Colonel Mohammed Al Afari from the National Guard and Colonel Ali Al Darmaki from Customs and Border Security.
The agenda included reviewing feedback from strategic partners, focusing on service quality, security requirements, and coordination mechanisms. The Committee examined first-quarter statistics related to Sharjah border points’ users and reviewed official correspondences from relevant authorities, issuing directives for necessary actions.
An Emirati delegation led by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi visited the Al Rawdah border post in Oman. Accompanied by Brigadier General Faisal Ibrahim bin Nassar and other Committee members, they were received by Brigadier Engineer Khalil bin Yahya Al-Omiri and Colonel Kahlhan bin Yahya Al-Omiri along with senior officers.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
During their visit, both sides discussed enhancing cooperation to facilitate traveller movement and streamline commercial traffic between the two countries. This initiative aims to strengthen bilateral relations and promote economic integration between the UAE and Oman.
At the conclusion of their visit, commemorative gifts were exchanged. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi presented Brigadier Al-Omiri with "Sultan of the Histories," a four-volume encyclopedia by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. This work is a significant historical reference detailing notable events in Oman's history.
