SGCA Launches Two New Categories To Promote Excellence In Smart Communication
The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA), organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), has introduced two new categories in its 12th edition. These are the University Challenge and the AI Skills Camp (AISC). The initiative aims to encourage innovation in smart communication and promote technological advancements in government communication.
The University Challenge, a three-day creative competition, is held in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). It invites students from universities across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to present innovative communication projects. This competition seeks to harness student creativity and foster new ideas in government communication.

The AI Skills Camp (AISC) is organised in partnership with the Rubu' Qarn Life Skills Centre in Sharjah. It aims to create a dynamic environment for enhancing practical skills in artificial intelligence. The focus is on producing and managing government and media content using smart technologies, thus promoting digital innovation.
Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB, emphasised the award's commitment to supporting creative competition in smart communication. She highlighted that it rewards excellence and outstanding achievements in digital communication while effectively utilising modern technologies for interactive public engagement. This aligns with rapid technological advancements that are integral to government communication processes.
The SGMB Director noted that these categories aim to inspire university students to innovate and support constructive ideas. They contribute to enhancing the quality of government communication by expanding the award’s scope and reach. This enables broader participation at national, regional, and global levels, serving the vital government communication sector.
This year's SGCA includes 23 categories covering strategic sectors such as government entities, international organisations, private sector awards, individual awards, "Best Innovators Competition in Smart Communication," jury awards, and partner awards. The diversity of categories reflects the award's comprehensive approach to recognising excellence across various fields.
Submission Details
Submissions for all categories are open until 24th July. Winners will be announced during the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in September. All necessary details regarding terms, conditions, criteria, and submission methods for each category can be found on the award’s official website.
The SGCA continues to play a crucial role in promoting innovation within government communication by recognising outstanding contributions across multiple sectors. By encouraging participation from diverse groups, it helps advance effective communication strategies globally.
