SGCA Award Calls On Next Generation Of Communicators To Inspire Positive Change In Society

The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) 2025 has begun accepting entries for its 12th edition. This year, it features four key categories aimed at children, adolescents, and youth. These categories are part of a broader selection of 23 and include Best Innovative Project Targeting Children and Adolescents, Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication, and two subcategories under Best Communication Targeting Youth.

These categories highlight SGCA's commitment to promoting creative communication that empowers future generations. The focus is on supporting talent and fostering positive behavioural and social growth. The Best Innovative Project Targeting Children and Adolescents category honours initiatives that impact children's development and responsibility. Meanwhile, the Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication recognises youth-led solutions that enhance transparency and public awareness.

SGCA Award Invites Youth to Inspire Change

The two subcategories under Best Communication Targeting Youth aim to encourage entrepreneurship among young people. They also focus on campaigns that shape values using digital tools. Applications for these categories close on Thursday, 24th July 2025, via the official website. Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, emphasised the emirate’s vision to empower youth as community builders.

Al Suwaidi stated, "Allocating award categories specifically for youth-led and youth-focused initiatives demonstrates our belief in communication as a tool for awareness, innovation and capability-building within a diverse, culturally conscious society." She further noted that today's youth are creating opportunities themselves and redefining institutional engagement through smart communication.

The category for Best Innovative Project Targeting Children and Adolescents focuses on initiatives promoting creativity, critical thinking, cultural identity, and life skills through various mediums like education or media. Evaluation criteria include originality, engagement level, impact, technological integration, and sustainability.

The Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication celebrates efforts addressing social issues with innovative tools. Projects are assessed based on creativity, public engagement levels, long-term impact potential as well as partnerships with public or private entities.

Encouraging Entrepreneurship and Positive Behaviour

The subcategory for Best Communication Programme Supporting Emerging Projects and Youth targets initiatives aiding entrepreneurship through training or mentorship. It also addresses problem-solving areas like funding or employment. Submissions are judged on their impact potential along with scalability factors such as innovation inclusivity aspects.

The other subcategory highlights digital campaigns influencing youth behaviour positively by shaping values effectively over time while ensuring audience engagement remains high throughout each campaign’s lifecycle.

These categories celebrate communication initiatives that elevate young voices while encouraging innovation across generations globally. In 2024 alone SGCA attracted over 3,800 entries from 44 countries worldwide; this year continues providing an international platform where ideas shaping tomorrow’s world can thrive successfully together.
