SEWA Completes Over 19 Energy Transmission Projects To Enhance Electrical Grid In 2024

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has successfully completed over 19 strategic projects in 2024. These initiatives have significantly boosted energy transmission capabilities and stabilised the electrical grid. This effort is part of SEWA's ongoing mission to enhance energy infrastructure and improve network efficiency.

Hamad Al-Taniji, who leads the Energy Transmission Department, highlighted that these projects have advanced the electrical grid infrastructure. They ensure high-quality services that cater to future demands. He stressed SEWA's dedication to achieving excellence and innovation, maintaining network reliability in line with future developments, and reaching top performance levels.

SEWA Completes 19 Energy Projects in 2024

Among the completed projects are the 220 kV Airport Station and a dynamic development project at Al-Tay Station for energy transmission. Other initiatives aimed at boosting electrical transmission efficiency were executed at Wasit, Al-Shanouf, and Al-Ghubayba stations. Additionally, upgrades to transformers at several main stations were undertaken to ensure operational stability.

Partial discharge detection systems (GIS PD) were installed at both the Sports Centre Station and Al-Liyah 132 kV Station. This installation enhances the reliability of the electrical system. Furthermore, overhead lines in Al-Ma'ahid, Al-Hoshi, and Al-Tay were lowered to support the Union Train project, promoting sustainable transportation.

Abdullah Al-Kous, Deputy Director of the Energy Transmission Department, mentioned that several energy transmission stations became operational in 2024. These include Al-Jadah - 3 (33/11 kV), Souq Haraj - 2 (33/11 kV), and Al-Madina - 3 (33/11 kV). These stations supply power to the Al-Milihah Dairy Project and nearby areas.

Network modifications in the Al-Milihah area connected it to Al-Madina Station. Additionally, connections were made to Al-Rahmaniyah - 4 (33/11 kV) and Al-Falah - 1 (33/11 kV), along with network changes in Al-Tay. The connection project for the Al-Hawel Emirates building using an advanced system (33/0.415 kV) was also completed.

Future Plans for Energy Transmission

The authority's plan for energy transmission in 2025 focuses on strategic objectives like expanding on past successes. It aims to leverage acquired expertise for future projects while integrating cutting-edge technologies into energy transmission processes to boost performance and operations.

Collaboration among different teams will be fostered to ensure effective project execution. Additionally, a temporary station for the Al-Qutayna area (33/11 kV) will become operational as part of these plans.

The efforts by SEWA demonstrate a commitment to enhancing infrastructure while ensuring reliable service delivery. The projects completed in 2024 lay a strong foundation for future developments in Sharjah's energy sector.
