SEHA Launches CyberKnife Technology At Tawam Hospital To Enhance Cancer Treatment Options

PureHealth has introduced CyberKnife technology at Tawam Hospital, part of the SEHA network, marking its debut in Abu Dhabi. This advancement strengthens the emirate's reputation as a leading healthcare hub. The CyberKnife S7 system, now available at Tawam Hospital, is the most advanced in the UAE. It offers non-invasive radiotherapy solutions that improve cancer care by using precise robotic systems to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.

The CyberKnife system delivers high-dose radiation with pinpoint accuracy to cancer cells, eliminating the need for surgery. This method is particularly beneficial for tumours in sensitive areas where traditional surgery poses risks. Since its introduction, 23 patients have been treated at Tawam Hospital, including cases of prostate cancer and brain tumours. This technology allows precise targeting while preserving healthy tissues.

Expanding Treatment Options

The CyberKnife technology treats various tumours including brain and spinal tumours and cancers affecting organs like lungs and liver. It also addresses complex head and neck cancers along with non-cancerous conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia. The introduction of this technology not only enhances SEHA's capabilities but also demonstrates its commitment to medical innovation by attracting top oncology talent.

This development signifies a shift towards offering non-invasive treatments that are more effective for cancer patients in Abu Dhabi. With its ability to treat both benign and malignant tumours without surgical incisions or complex procedures, CyberKnife represents a significant advancement in regional cancer care.
